The July show was one of the largest I remember in a long time.

It started with a little tension as many people were in portable panel corrals under a tent. However, after a rocky start on Thursday the entire show went very well.

The BBQ that Joe Mearse Cutting Horses put on was a welcome relief to a long day. Even though the cutting continued everyone managed to take a short break to get something to eat. The food was really good and we are looking forward to having Backyard BBQ back for the Aug/September show.

Even Sunday was a long day with the last class being held after 7PM. However, everyone seemed to enjoy the show and was excited with the large classes . The tent over the corral panels worked well and provided cover during the rain storm on Saturday.

This was the first show since the NCHA approved the increase in the fees ,and that coupled with the Galles Group sponsoring the show, we were able to make a profit.

I want to thank everyone that stayed around Sunday night to help clean up. Without your help we would have been there even later..

Also a special thank you to Rick Galles from Galles Chevrolet Trucks and Bob Phillips from Phillips Performance horses. For sponsoring the weekend show. I think most of you will agree that the club may be growing to the point where we will need additional stalls. Lonnie has agreed to put up additional stalls if the club will put up $5000 this year and commit to staying at his facility. Lonnie doesn’t need the stalls but would be willing to put them up for us. Therefore we will need to actively work to draw additional cutters here over the next few years. This is best accomplished by having more three day shows. They seem to draw from Colorado, Arizona and Texas

Everyone seemed to enjoy the Judge, Bill Murphy. He was consistent the entire weekend. At one time on Friday we thought we would exceed 150 cuts so we used Eileen Hicks to judge a class. However, we only had 146 that day, with that in mind Bill monitored the number of cuts in each class and determined that he would be able to judge all the classes for the remaining two days. Thank you Eileen for being there and for giving us a helping hand when we needed it.

McKenzie cattle provided the cattle for the last show and this one and everyone was commenting on the quality of the cattle. Several people mentioned that it has been a long time since they worked really good cattle. Thank you Kenneth McKenzie for the excellent cattle and for sponsoring a buckle for our club.

There will be circuit awards at the Aug/Sept show and a BBQ.
